Okay, so Barker has stated that his classic film HELLRAISER is set to be remade by Dimension Films. Variety has since revealed more info on just what has gone wrong with Hollywood.
Anthony Diblasi and Joe Daley will co-produce the remake to the 1987 classic, while Richard Saperstein and Matthew Stein will oversee the production for Dimension. While Barker has previously said that he would write the update and not direct, Barker says that he hopes to explore more in the update. “There are some areas of the first movie where I think we can be a lot more intense and a lot more scary,” he said, and with the increased budget, he hopes to do more with the special effects. “It will not be simply a reworking or reshooting of the first picture.”
No director has been announced as of yet, and no word on if Pinhead (aka Doug Bradley) would be in the film. Needless to say, Barker should have stuck with his original intention of finishing Pinhead off and stayed away from any more Hollywood mangling of his creation. But money talks, as they say…
