More Remakes

Don’t worry, before you get your mind set in being pissed off that even more horror flicks are getting remade… let me just say these look to be decent flicks to remake. They’re several classic horror stories from the likes of Edgar Allan Poe, H.G. Wells, and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

The Hollywood Reporter dropped word that Regent Studios and their sister cable network Here! Networks have just signed a deal with cult director David DeCoteau to remake 10 classic horror tales and 2 television series, mainly to add gay themes.

Some of the projects included are: THE BROTHERHOOD, THE INVISIBLE CHRONICLES, Edgar Allan Poe’s THE PIT AND THE PENDULUM, and PLAYING WITH FIRE, along with several others including works from H.G. Wells and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

These projects will come from DeCoteau’s Rapid Heart Pictures, with some of the films getting theatrical releases from Regent. The movies’ gay themes will be much like DeCoteau’s recent adaptation of Poe’s HOUSE OF USHER.

DeCoteau started in the gay porn industry back in the 1980 and has since been a name coupled with many cheesy genre flicks like LEECHES!, CREEPOZOIDS, SORORITY BABES IN THE SLIMEBALL BOWL-O-RAMA… that last one deserves an Oscar for it’s name alone!

The only release we know of thus far is PLAYING WITH FIRE coming sometime this fall. It’s described as a ‘pansexual film noir’ and stars Susan Anton and Michael Bergin. As always, we’ll keep you updated.

I hope DeCoteau finds room for lesbians in his gay themed remakes.
