Mortal Engines featurette highlights the film’s feral badass main character

Although Peter Jackson isn't directing MORTAL ENGINES, his fingerprints are all over the upcoming big-screen adaptation of the Philip Reeve novel. Set thousands of years in the future, the cities of Earth now roam the globe on huge wheels, devouring each other in a struggle over diminishing resources. The film stars Hera Hilmar as Hester Shaw, a fugitive assassin with a personal vendetta against Thaddeus Valentine (Hugo Weaving), a powerful man who she blames for the murder of her mother. Universal Pictures has released a new featurette for the film which puts the focus on the "mysterious, feral bad-ass" known as Hester Shaw. You can watch that above and be sure to check out the new poster for the film below as well!

The official synopsis for MORTAL ENGINES:

Thousands of years after civilization was destroyed by a cataclysmic event, humankind has adapted and a new way of living has evolved.  Gigantic moving cities now roam the Earth, ruthlessly preying upon smaller traction towns.  Tom Natsworthy (Robert Sheehan)—who hails from a Lower Tier of the great traction city of London—finds himself fighting for his own survival after he encounters the dangerous fugitive Hester Shaw (Hera Hilmar).  Two opposites, whose paths should never have crossed, forge an unlikely alliance that is destined to change the course of the future.

MORTAL ENGINES will hit theaters on December 14, 2018.
