New Mortal Kombat movie will hit theaters, HBO Max April 2021

When Warner Bros. announced that they would be releasing their entire 2021 slate simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max, one of the many films included in that deal is Mortal Kombat. The release of the upcoming reboot has already been shuffled around several times, but producer Todd Garner dropped a new poster for Mortal Kombat on Twitter that gives the film a brand-new release date — April 16, 2021.

Todd Garner added that we'll finally be seeing the first trailer for Mortal Kombat in the new year. The cast of Mortal Kombat includes Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Hiroyuki Sanada as Scorpion, Chin Han as Shang Tsun, Joe Taslim as Sub-Zero, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Josh Lawson as Kano, Mehcad Brooks as Jax, Tadanobu Asano as Raiden, Cadwell as Nitara, and Sisi Stringer as Mileena. with Lewis Tan playing an unknown role. The film has been helmed by Simon McQuoid from a script by Greg Russo with James Wan producing. Fans of the series will be pleased to know that the notoriously gruesome series won't be toned down for the big-screen as Russo has previously teased that the film will be embracing its bloody origins.

Since it’s already been stated by other members of the team, I’m gonna put this one to bed. [Mortal Kombat] WILL be R-Rated and for the first time EVER, FATALITIES will FINALLY be on the big screen (and no I’m not gonna say which ones) You’ll just have to wait for the movie & see!

Mortal Kombat will hit theaters and HBO Max on April 16, 2021.
