Over a year ago I told you about an adaptation on the way of Japanese manga GHOST IN A SHELL. I actually used the same shots you see above and below for the article… can you blame me for using them again?
Anyway as you can see this movie is already looking awesome. Alright not really but maybe. Last April none other than Steven Spielberg played a big part in scooping up GHOST IN A SHELL for DreamWorks and scribe Jamie Moss was in line to pen the script. Well over a year later and Moss is history! According to Variety stepping in for Moss will be Laeta Kalogridis. What was Kalogridis’ latest you ask? Why Martin Scorsese’s SHUTTER ISLAND of course, which is looking nothing short of amazing. So perhaps there’s hope for this GHOST IN A SHELL thing…
Now I couldn’t even begin to tell you what this thing is about. Sorry… but manga just isn’t my thing. I have however partook in some detailed research and I’ve come up with the following synopsis for you all: GHOST IN THE SHELL follows the exploits of a member of a covert ops unit of the Japanese National Public Safety Commission that specializes in fighting technology-related crime. Well that sounds like fun. Not really but we’ll run with it. If Speilberg is a fan then there must be something there!
DreamWorks are planning on making GHOST IN A SHELL into a 3D live-action flick from producers Ari Arad and Steven Paul. And that’s all we’ve got. What do you guys think?
