I wasn’t even really aware this MOTEL HELL remake was moving forward, but apparently it is quickly enough to grab itself an October 31 release date. While I can’t find any names attached to the project, I’m assuming who ever ends up directing it will have an illustrious resume filled with NSync and Shakira videos. MGM will be distributing the flick, which if it’s like the original, will tell the wacky tale of Farmer Vincent and his tendency to kidnap unsuspecting travelers and bury them up to their necks in his garden. It’s a fun time, and even features a “chainsaw fight,” which is natural since most of the time it feels like it’s slyly goofing on TEXAS CHAINSAW anyway.
Also, Michael Haneke’s remake of his own FUNNY GAMES has been pushed back a month, from February 15 to March 14, where it faces the intimidating force of nature that is HORTON HEARS A WHO. I know, how are families going to choose?
