Mothers Day remake?

There was a time when remakes were announced and I was genuinely surprised to hear they were happening. That was about 3 years ago. Now, in todays wacky remake-infested world, a world were flicks like PROM NIGHT is made into a PG-13 “shocker,” and FRIDAY THE 13TH‘s head is up on the remake chopping block as well, nothing surprises me. Not even this morning, when I learned that the 1980 classic MOTHER’S DAY is now in talks for the remake treatment.

Oh, but it gets better than that! According to STYD, Brett “I ruined the X-MEN franchise” Ratner is at the fore-front of efforts trying to get the movie remade, though (lucky for us), he only wants to produce and not direct.

Only in a f*cked up world would I learn that MOTHER’S DAY is being remade with Ratner producing and I’m simply not surprised one tiny bit. That sucks. A remake of MOTHER’S DAY, eh? Of course, nothing is 100% confirmed or official, but STYD’s sources sound legit, so I’ll just assume it’s true… but will wait for it to become official before I get too excited. Lots of things change, deals fall through all the time, and this… this may be one of them.
