A new trailer for Godzilla: King of the Monsters roars to life online

After unleashing a brand-new poster for GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS, which features the Alpha Predator raising his head to the heavens in preparation to emit a deafening roar, another trailer for Warner Bros. and director Michael Dougherty's upcoming monster mash has risen from the depths. In the new trailer, we're given a better look at the film's other kaiju - Mothra, Rodan and King Ghidorah - which are sure to put the God of Destruction through his paces before the day is won. We also find that Dougherty's installment of the series looks to be more character driven than Gareth Edwards' 2014 sci-fi adventure that helped usher Monster Zero-One back into the Hollywood fold. Personally, I'm incredibly excited to see Dougherty's signature style applied to such an iconic character, as both his TRICK 'R TREAT and KRAMPUS films were chock full of surprises, as well as over-the-top effects and a fair amount of humor.

Directed by Dougherty, who also co-wrote the script with KRAMPUS scribe Zach Shields, GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS stars STRANGER THINGS breakout Millie Bobby Brown, Vera Farmiga (THE DEPARTED, ORPHAN), Sally Hawkins (THE SHAPE OF WATER, MAUDIE), Kyle Chandler (ARGO, SUPER 8), Charles Dance (LAST ACTION HERO, GAME OF THRONES), Bradley Whitford (GET OUT, THE CABIN IN THE WOODS), Ziyi Zhang (THE GRANDMASTER, HOUSE OF FLYING DAGGERS), Ken Wantanabe (INCEPTION, GODZILLA) and Thomas Middleditch (FINAL GIRLS, THE WOLD OF WALL STREET), among others.

Here's the synopsis:

The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah.  When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.

GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS hits theaters May 31, 2019. Let us know what you think of the new trailer in the comments section below.
