Arnold Schwarzenegger tops poll of who would save us in an alien invasion

Arnold Schwarzenegger, alien invasion, poll

Let it be known that residents of the U.K. know what's up when it comes to selecting someone to help lead humanity against an alien invasion. I'm talking about Arnold Schwarzenegger, of course, as if it's any surprise. Today, a U.K. poll of 2000 British adults declared that the Governator is their top pick as Saviour of the Universe.

“I want to thank the people for putting their faith in me,” Schwarzenegger said on Twitter about being elected for the role. Then, like a true patriot, the 73-year-old actor and former California Governor said, “I am ready to serve.” Hell yeah! I say we arm this man to the teeth and turn him loose! Have you ever seen Commando, Predator, or any of the Terminator movies? Those aliens would be toast.

Included on the list of 20 celebrities “who would best deal with an alien invasion,” is Independence Day star Will Smith, who came in second. Other names that appeared on the list include Sir David Attenborough, Bruce Willis, Tom Cruise, Harrison Ford, Sigourney Weaver, Gillian Anderson, Kamala Harris, Joe Biden, and oddly, Donald Trump.

“Arnold Schwarzenegger is a strong choice for dealing with an alien invasion, bearing in mind he’s not only a screen action hero but was also Governor of California,” said a spokesman for TV channel BLAZE, which commissioned the study. “Although it’s worrying to see that so many celebrities with fictional alien experience are considered by many to be better candidates than our current crop of world leaders.”

My personal picks for who should lead the charge against an alien invasion include Charlize Theron, Iko Uwais, Dwayne Johnson, Lupita Nyong'o, and, of course, Schwarzenegger. Who would you want to lead the charge if angry aliens emerged from the clouds and started raining hellfire down upon us? Assemble your team and post your list in the comments section below.
