Earlier this month, rumor was spreading that THE FORCE AWAKENS' Daisy Ridley was up for the lead role of Lara Croft in the new TOMB RAIDER movie. It's not much of a stretch, given that she's a brunette with an English accent that starred in one of the highest-grossing films of all time. However, it looks like there were some truth to those rumors after all! The Hollywood Reporter recently spoke with Ms. Ridley, who confided that there "have been conversations.” She hasn't officially been offered the role yet, stating, “I’m waiting for someone to say ‘I want you, let’s do it'.”

You may be thinking that STAR WARS is keeping her busy enough, but when pressed if she would have time, she said, "Absolutely, I’m trying to fill up my calendar.” Ridley's also not the only one from the STAR WARS cast who would like to see her raid some tombs! Her co-star, John Boyega, actually messaged her about taking the role. “I played Tomb Raider the game, it’s a new take and I think the movies are going to be based on that version,” John Boyega told THR. “But I texted Daisy [and] was like, ‘this is you!’ and ‘you need to get on that because you could be Lara Croft.’ She should be."

While the recommendation isn't needed, it's certainly welcome. I'm not alone in thinking that Daisy Ridley did a bang-up job in FORCE AWAKENS, so I'd love to see her take on a different character, provided that it's well-written. There's no script that we know off floating around at the moment, so all this talk is exactly that. Still, if the new movie follows the format of the rebooted games, I think we'd be in for a treat.
