Django Unchained adds four more but Jonah Hill forced to pass

Jonah Hill is shaping up to be a surprise Best Supporting Actor candidate at this year’s Oscars for his performance in MONEYBALL. That critical acclaim almost resulted in a starring role in what could’ve been his most high-profile film to date: Quentin Tarantino’s DJANGO UNCHAINED.

Tarantino offered Hill the role of Scotty, the chubby rich boy whose father purchases slame Broomhilda (wife of Django) for. The role is written as kind of a sweet-natured doofus who actually comes to love Broomhilda and features a great poker scene with lead villain Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio) where the stakes are Broomhilda herself.

But as it turns out, Hill is busy filming NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH with Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn and was forced to turn down a role in the film. (Also, Hill isn’t exactly a chubby kid anymore…)

While Tarantino looks to find a replacement, he did add James Remar, Tom Wopat (!!), Todd Allen and James Russo to the cast.

Those actors join a cast that includes DiCaprio, Jamie Foxx, Kerry Washington, Christoph Waltz, Kurt Russell, Samuel L. Jackson, RZA and Don Johnson.
