First look at new Toy Story short

The TOY STORY movies may be done for now, but they’re going to keep cranking out those shorts. Earlier this year a short titled “Hawaiian Vacation” appeared in front of CARS 2, and they have “Small Fry” set to appear before THE MUPPETS.

Here’s the first screenshot from it.

The story revolves around a Happy Meal-type toy at a fast-food restaurant [who] yearns to break out of his display case to play like a real toy. He kidnaps Buzz Lightyear in an attempt to take over his play-filled existence. The life-reversal forces the real Buzz Lightyear to deal with a support group for discarded, unloved fast-food toys.

Have to admit, decent concept. And Pixar shorts are pretty much always fantastic- something about the more compact format really allows those guys to shine and go a little more off the rails.

Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, John Ratzenberger (Hamm) and Joan Cusack (Jessie) all return for the seven-minute short. Jane Lynch will play the support-group leader Neptuna, Pixar director Teddy Newton will play the Mini Buzz and the director of the short Angus MacLane voices several of the happy meal toys.

THE MUPPETS hits November 23rd. As if you needed another reason to see it.
