James Gunn debunks Nathan Fillion Guardians 2 deleted scene

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Certain actors have such a loving fan base they could leap into a volcano only to be followed by a parade of Twitter followers and stalkers. Nathan Fillion of FIREFLY and CASTLE fame is one of those actors, and needless to say fans went bonkers when he posted a picture of himself on the set of GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2, in full costume, hinting at a scene of his that was unfortunatley cut.  Sadly, though, director James Gunn has come along to spoil the fun.

The picture went viral when Fillion posted it on his Instagram account yesterday, with fans begging Gunn to answer for his crimes. But the director has come out to say that Fillion is just a silly goose, bringing his brand of shenanigans to the set:

However, his presence was almost somewhat kind of featured in the film:

Here is the picture that started the whole matter, and needless to say we need whoever this character is in our lives…right now!

From a scene you won't see in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. Is the movie still spectacular without it? Yes.

I’m a fan of Fillion’s, maybe not as die-hard as others, but I’m a fan. How can you not be? FIREFLY, DR. HORRIBLE, SLITHER (also from Gunn), not to mention the actor DID have a cameo in the first GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, which could explain why the photo and “deleted scene” seemed so legit. Still, an actual cameo from the actor (like Stan Lee) would’ve been a real treat, but alas it was not meant to be. All I can do now is stare out the window, dreaming of having such amazing hair.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2, without Nathan Fillion, arrives May 5.
