J.K. Simmons in talks to play an alcoholic detective in Terminator: Genesis

J.K. Simmons as an alcoholic detective trying to figure out what the hell is going on with the Connors and all of these damn terminators? I'm sold. THR has learned Simmons is in negotiations to join Alan Taylor's TERMINATOR: GENESIS. Sources say if Simmons signs on he'll be playing, "a weary and alcoholic detective who has followed a bizarre case involving Sarah Connor and robots for more than three decades."

Earlier this month we found out TERMINATOR: GENESIS might be exploring the events from the previous films, although it will play out differently this time, probably due to someone time traveling and changing what happened in the past. When the rumored plot details were first revealed, some of you complained that the new film will pretty much be a combined remake of THE TERMINATOR and TERMINATOR 2: JUDGMENT DAY. I know most people would rather see a new story being told in TERMINATOR: GENESIS, however I think it's a interesting plan for the new movie. As some of you said though, it may sound good on paper, but the execution is going to be very important.

TERMINATOR: GENESIS also stars Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor, Jason Clarke as John Connor and Jai Courtney as Kyle Reese, and Arnold Schwarzenegger will be back as The Terminator. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on July 1st, 2015.
