Mission Impossible 5 starts filming later this month in London

Details have been scarce on MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 5 aside from the recurring cast of Tom Cruise, Simon Pegg and Jeremy Renner, but you can expect that to change as principal photography is gearing up to start on August 25th. There was also talk of MI5 being the second film ever to shoot inside the Houses of Parliament. In a press interview for HECTOR AND THE SEARCH FOR HAPPINESS, Simon Pegg was on hand to talk a little bit about the fifth installment in the franchise and where they’re going to spend the bulk of their time.

Simon Pegg in regards to when production starts:

We’re all ready to go on August 24, which is what I’m being told. Which is why I’m here doing a little press right now, and I’m available – because I might become unavailable very soon. As far as I know, we’re all set to go. We’ve got location work first, and then the bulk of the filming will be in Leavesden [Studios], north of London. It’s a nice one for me, to be near home.

Whether or not they’re shooting in Parliament:

I can’t confirm that because I haven’t been told. But we are shooting in London, so it would make sense, if they were looking to film in places like that, that it would be the case. I don’t know for definite, but I do know that we are shooting on location in London, so that should be the case. Which would be great.

Christopher McQuarrie will be helming the fifth installment, who more recently penned the screenplay for EDGE OF TOMORROW as well as directing Tom Cruise in the solid thriller JACK REACHER. Mission Impossible is a unique series in that it allows each and every director to leave its mark. The tone changes from film to film, and while MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: GHOST PROTOCOL was arguably the most fun of the franchise, I look forward to seeing what style McQuarrie implements for MI5.

MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 5 will be released on December 25, 2015.
