Short teaser for Star Wars: Rebels reveals place in timeline

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

With STAR WARS: EPISODE VII now on the horizon and the franchise characters now in Disney's hands, the push for bringing a new generation into the fold is taking shape. Before we see J.J. Abrams unleash his own version of the force in theaters, we'll first be treated to a small screen endeavor, Star Wars: Rebels, which takes place within the canon of Episodes III and IV. Today, we have our first tiny peek at a teaser for the show, which reveals very little, minus a Star Destroyer, clearing placing the show in the post Episode III era.

Take a gander:

Here's the synopsis:

The series is set between the events of Episode III and IV — an era spanning almost two decades never-before explored on-screen. It takes place in a time where the Empire is securing its grip on the galaxy and hunting down the last of the Jedi Knights as a fledgling rebellion against the Empire is taking shape. Star Wars Rebels will be produced by Lucasfilm Animation, featuring many of the key talents that made Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

An extended preview is expected to debut at NYCC this weekend, so expect to hear/see more on this in the near future. Personally, I'm looking forward to seeing more. This teaser is hardly enough to judge, but just seeing that there aren't any clones gets me excited. Seriously, that well is dry. I'm ready for a new era.

Star Wars: Rebels is scheduled to premiere in fall 2014 as a one-hour special telecast on Disney Channel, and will be followed by a series on Disney XD channels around the world.
