The fourth season of Arrested Development to get a remix on Netflix

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

While we all sit and wait patiently for Netflix to release the fifth season of Arrested Development, series creator Mitch Hurwitz has a surprise for us: a re-edited version of the fourth season of Arrested Development dubbed Arrested Development Season 4 Remix: Fateful Consequences. The remix is slated to arrive this Friday, on the "premature holiday the Bluth family know as Cinco de Cuatro," and it takes the original 15-episodes and reimagines them as a 22-episode adventure with interwoven storylines, much like the original three seasons of the series. In a statement released on Twitter, Hurwitz said that he "pursued it as a comedic experiment to see if new jokes and a new perspective would emerge from a remix that features all the Bluths in every episode, and where the simultaneity of the story plays out chronologically. And I’m really excited about the final result. It’s funny in a whole new way, and I believe it creates a really entertaining and hilarious new experience for the 'viewer.' And I only call you that because I don't know how to pronounce your last name"

You can check out the rest of the statement below:

The fourth season fell under criticism as it split up much of the cast and followed individual storylines, rather than the ensemble we were used to in the previous three season. "The goal was that by the end of the season, a unified story of cause and effect would emerge for the viewer — full of surprises about how the Bluths were responsible for most of the misery they had endured," explained Hurwitz. "In some ways to be an experience for that viewer, perhaps, akin to eating toast, then some bacon— maybe a sliced tomato followed by some turkey, and realizing, 'Hey, I think I just had a BLT.'" This was a necessary evil as the availability of the actors was limited due to their busy schedules, but Jason Bateman has said that the upcoming fifth season will feature much more of the Bluth family together. As for when the fifth season will drop, well, Hurwitz said that it will be coming "real soon."

A new fifth season of Arrested Development will be coming back to Netflix soon. Like real soon. Like, if you knew when, you would not be wrong to be thinking 'why are we all just hearing this now?' Well, I don't mean to be defensive, but I don't know why everyone's suddenly mad at me.

There you have it folks, Arrested Development Season 4 Remix: Fateful Consequences will debut on Netflix May 4th, while season 5 will drop…sometime soon.
