Two movies sitting high on my Most Anticipated Horror Films of 2010 are LEGION and THE CRAZIES. LEGION because the crazy scene with the old lady in the cafe, and THE CRAZIES because both of the trailers have blown me away with it’s action and violence.
The MPAA gave me yet another reason to want to seek these two films out, slapping both films with a hard R rating for practically the same reasons! And their reasons are pretty damn cool, if you ask me!
First up, LEGION, starring Paul Bettany, Dennis Quaid, and Doug Jones, tells the story of what happens after a terrifying biblical apocalypse descends upon the world, and a group of strangers stranded in a remote truck stop diner in the Southwest unwittingly become humanity’s last line of defense when they discover the diner’s young waitress is pregnant with the messiah. Sounds awesome, right? LEGION is now officially rated R for strong bloody violence, and language. Nice!
Then there’s THE CRAZIES, starring Timothy Olyphant, Radha Mitchell (below), and Joe Anderson, about the inhabitants of a small Iowa town suddenly plagued by insanity and then death after a mysterious toxin contaminates their water supply. This flick looks like a ton of fun, and it keeps getting better, as it’s now officially rated R as well for bloody violence and language.
Two movies, two ratings, both rated R for practically the same damn reasons (though LEGION sounds a little bit more bloody and violent), and both soaring high on movies to catch in 2010. Hells yeah. LEGION hits theaters January 22, with THE CRAZIES opening wide February 26.
