Mr. Corman canceled after only one season at Apple TV+

It’s one and done for Mr. Corman. The Joseph Gordon-Levitt series was not given a second season by Apple TV+ and the news came as the series’ final episode, “The Big Picture”, was released yesterday.

Mr. Corman premiered on August 6, 2021, to pretty solid reviews (70% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes) but the series did not attract a wide audience according to the streamer. Apple TV+, like most streaming services, didn’t release viewership data for the series but it’s safe to say that it didn’t attract an audience big enough that was similar to their other shows like Ted Lasso, Schmigadoon!, Physical, Mythic Quest, and Trying.

Gordon-Levitt, who also wrote, directed, and executive produced the half-hour schoolteacher comedy-drama, is still in business with Apple TV+ as he is executive producing and voicing a lead character in the platform’s new animated children’s series Wolfboy and the Everything Factory, which dropped all 10 episodes of its first season on September 24, 2021.

Mr. Corman followed a fifth-grade teacher who ponders the bigger questions to life and struggles with his own emotions while keeping his San Fernando Valley elementary school class afloat. A former aspiring musician, he works through anxiety, loneliness, and a sinking suspicion that he sucks as a person. The series also stars Arturo Castro, Bobby Hall, Alexander Jo, Juno Temple, Jamie Chung, Shannon Woodward, and Hector Hernandez.
