Marvel Studios is reportedly considering Mr. Sinister as the main villain for its X-Men reboot

Industry insider Daniel Richtman says Marvel Studios is considering using Mr. Sinister as the main villain for a female-focused X-Men reboot.

X-Men, Mr. Sinister, Marvel Studios

To me, my Marvel-related rumors! Grab your tinfoil hats, folks, because a fresh batch of hearsay suggests Mr. Sinister could be the main villain of Marvel Studios’ X-Men reboot. Before we go any further, please understand this information is unconfirmed and should be taken with a Rockslide-sized grain of salt. According to industry insider Daniel Richtman, the clone-happy supervillain, Mr. Sinister, could give the X-Men hell when Marvel Studios reboots the mutant population on the silver screen.

Richtman says Marvel hopes to avoid using Magneto as the central villain of its reboot, considering his featured role in Fox’s X-film series. Fans are already flocking to social media with outcries about Magneto’s exclusion, so it’s important to remember this is just a rumor. Marvel Studios reportedly wants their X-Men reboot to be different than Fox’s presentation, so significant changes to the lineup are to be expected.

In addition to Mr. Sinister possibly being the Big Bad of the new film series, Richtman says Marvel’s X-Men films will place more emphasis on female X-Men than Fox’s approach to the money-printing property. One of the chief complaints about Fox’s X-Men films is how the series seemed to devalue and depower its female-presenting heroes. Considering how formidable female members of the X-Men are, it seems foolish to leave their display of badassery on the table.

Dr. Nathaniel Essex, aka Mr. Sinister, loves fancy capes and splicing mutant DNA. While toiling in his lab, Mr. Sinister hones his skills as a gifted geneticist, creating new creatures, mutants, and abilities. He’s typically multiple steps ahead of the mutant population and is untrustworthy. During the Krakoan Era of the X-Men comic book series, Mr. Sinister sabotaged the Living Island’s Mutant Resurrection Protocols, leading to a mass murder of mutant-kind. Trying to establish a new world order, Mr. Sinister is a master manipulator who uses the Moira Engine to restart time, tuning events in his favor until he achieves his goals.

The above description is the tip of the iceberg regarding Mr. Sinister’s impact on the mutant community. If Marvel plans to leave Magneto on the sidelines, Mr. Sinister is a fantastic choice to give the mutants a run for their money.

What do you think about this rumor? Are you familiar with Mr. Sinister? Would you be upset if Marvel left Magneto out of the picture? Let us know in the comments section below.
