Ms. Marvel has the lowest viewership of any MCU Disney+ series

Ms. Marvel has proven to be a hit with critics but its ratings, based on data pulled from Samba TV, indicate that it has had the lowest viewership of any MCU Disney+ series. Despite that distinction, the show is proving to register with the Gen Z crowd as those demos are some of the highest for an MCU Disney+ series.

Per Samba TV, Ms. Marvel’s first five days drew 775,000 U.S. households which makes it the lowest of any MCU Disney+ series to date. The previous low was for Hawkeye, which garnered 1.5 million U.S. households across its first five days. Ms. Marvel’s decline does appear to be significant but as a younger-skewing show, it appears that its finding success with other demographics.

With the Gen Z crowd, ages 20-24, Samba TV reports that this demo in particular has watched the series at the highest rate of any MCU Disney+ series to date. This could be the ideal demo for Disney+ for this show so while the overall premiere audience is the lowest, the age group that they’re likely trying to grab is watching. The latest MCU Disney+ entry also drew the most diverse audience, with Black, Hispanic, and Asian households tuning in to watch the series at a much higher rate. It should also be noted that reviews are glowing for Ms. Marvel and the social media reaction from those watching has also been positive so perhaps it’s best to allow the series to catch on with other viewers.

Per Disney+, “Ms. Marvel introduces Kamala Khan – a 16-year-old Pakistani American from Jersey City. An aspiring artist, an avid gamer, and a voracious fan-fiction scribe, she is a huge fan of the Avengers – and one in particular, Captain Marvel. But Kamala has always struggled to find her place in the world – this is until she gets superpowers like the heroes she’s always looked up to.” The series stars newcomer Iman Vellani, Aramis Knight, Saagar Shaikh, Rish Shah, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Matt Lintz, Yasmeen Fletcher, Laith Naki, Azher Usman, Travina Springer, and Nimra Bucha.
