MTV’s Scream will be completely rebooted for the third season

As I have mentioned before, I was (sucks to type that) a huge fan of MTV's SCREAM. I watched the first two seasons and did a weekly podcast where I went through the episodes trying to figure out the killer. And as I have stated before, I was right both seasons. Not to, you know, brag or anything.

Anyways, it pains me today to relay the news that MTV will be completely re-tooling the series from the ground up. The entire cast has been let go, including John Karna, Carlson Young, and Bex Taylor-Klaus, and the new (third) season will have a new creative force behind the scenes – including Queen Latifah?

Yes, it looks like the series is attempting to be "less white" – to quote The Hollywood Reporter – and I totally get that. Let me tell you, that series was white as f*ck. True story. Every episode looked like a weekend at Allison Williams' parents' house in GET OUT.

The new showrunner will be Brett Mat Matthews, who is best known as a writer on THE VAMPIRE DIARIES and SUPERNATURAL. This will be his first time acting as showrunner for a series. He will be joined by the above-mentioned Queen Latifah, along with Shakim Compere and Yaneley Arty as executive producers via Latifah's Flavor Unit Entertainment banner. Harvey and Bob Weinstein are still acting as exec producers via Dimension TV as well.

In a bittersweet side note, the late Wes Craven will still be credited as producer.

There is currently no word on if the plan is to go the anthology route, which was the series' original intention. Insiders say the rebooted third season "will be more inclusive as the series looks to put a new spin on a proved concept that has not been embraced on the small screen."

A premiere date for the reboot MTV's SCREAM will be announced at a later date.

I will miss these three.
