I’m not sure how many of you caught the independent horror flick MURDER PARTY, but I highly recommend it. Especially if you’re looking for a fright flick to watch this Halloween season that is different, hilarious, and actually takes place on the Eve of All Saints. Well, as luck would have it, you just may get a chance to view this future classic on the big screen and help out a great cause! Check this out:
On Sunday, October 19th, in Brooklyn, NY, three bands and Brooklyn-based production company Lab of Madness will team together at Greenpoint’s Coco 66 for a benefit event on behalf of Child’s Play Charity.
Founded in 2003, Child’s Play Charity is a game industry organization dedicated to improving the lives of youths undergoing treatment at specialty hospitals. Child’s Play Charity is linked to over 40 nation-wide hospitals and, to date, has distributed over 2 million dollars worth of new movies, game consoles, video games and funds to these institutions.
Just wanted to interrupt the announcement to say, that’s a GREAT freakin’ cause! Now, back to the info:
On Sunday, October 19th, Lab of Madness will present a special screening of MURDER PARTY to kick off this unique fundraiser. Executive producer Macon Blair is thrilled at the pairing of the event: “MURDER PARTY is very much a movie for the Halloween season, so it’s a perfect time for a screening, but the coolest part about the event is that it all benefits this great children’s charity.”
That’s just fantastic! Plus, there’s even a big-time party being held after the screening. Have a look at the rest of the festivities:
Following the 5:30 screening of Murder Party are performances by three bands that, in one way or another, contributed to the making of the film. Philadelphia’s East Hundred begins at 7pm and includes Brooke and Will Blair, credited with the movie’s original score. At 8pm is Brooklyn’s Stacy Rock, appearing with her full band, who also stars as the unitard-clad artist ‘Lexi’ in Murder Party. Loud and fast rock courtesy of Ain’t Rights finishes up the show at 9pm, featuring Bill Lacey (Murder Party’s bat-wielding villain, aptly named ‘Bill’) and long-time Lab of Madness supporting player Irene Trullinger.
The evening also includes a raffle, special Halloween “treats,” and food & drink specials. A suggested donation of $10 or a new video game (E10 or below), game console, or children’s book will give access to this event. Coco66 is located at 66 Greenpoint Ave, in Brooklyn.
