NCIS: Los Angeles renewed & NCIS: Hawaii spinoff ordered to series

The NCIS franchise just keeps trucking; although NCIS: New Orleans will soon be wrapping up its seven-season run, the flagship series was recently renewed for a 19th season (with Mark Harmon returning), and CBS announced today that they have renewed NCIS: Los Angeles for a 13th season and have also given a straight-to-series order to NCIS: Hawaii, a new spin-off which will be the first installment in the franchise with a female lead.

Set in the Aloha State, NCIS: Hawaii will follow "the first female Special Agent in Charge of NCIS Pearl Harbor and her team as they balance duty to family and country, investigating high-stakes crimes involving military personnel, national security and the mysteries of the island itself." Unlike how NCIS: Los Angeles and NCIS: New Orleans were introduced as backdoor pilots in the flagship series, our first glimpse at NCIS: Hawaii will arrive with its first episode. Larry Teng, who has directed multiple episodes of NCIS: Los Angeles, is slated to direct and executive produce the pilot, and the production is currently on the search for the lead. NCIS: Los Angeles stars Chris O'Donnell and LL Cool J and follows "the exploits of the Los Angeles–based Office of Special Projects (OSP), an elite division of the Naval Criminal Investigative Service that specializes in undercover assignments."
