Figures.com reported recently that NECA has secured the rights to produce figures based off of the movie formerly known as GRIND HOUSE.
The announcement was made at Toy Fair ’06 in New York, where NECA has dropped other bombs regarding their Cult Classics line of figures. This only proves the fact that NECA now is the king of horror movie figures. For those who don’t know, GRIND HOUSE (now just called GRIND) is the upcoming double feature directed by Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino. The film will be split into two separate 60 minute horror flicks with fake trailers and extras shown in between. Rodriguez will helm “Project Terror” (a zombie feature), while Tarantino will produce a slasher flick entitled “Death Proof”.
Figures.com also grabbed some news on NECA’s future figure forecast (if you can call it that), which looks like this:
* 12″ CHILD’S PLAY Chucky with sound.
* 18″ NEW NIGHTMARE Freddy with sound and interchangable “demon head”.
* SERIES 4: Shaun from SHAUN
OF THE DEAD, Plaid Zombie from DAWN
OF THE DEAD , Sebastian “The King” Haff from BUBBA HO-TEP and Chucky from CHILD’S PLAY.
* SEED OF CHUCKY Boxed Set – Damaged Chucky, Glen and Tiffany.
* HIGHLANDER Boxed Set – Connor MacLeod vs Kurgan (with “real” fur
trimmings).
* SERIES 5: Hannibal Lecter from SILENCE OF THE LAMBS (featuring
straight jacket and removeable straps and mask; 18″ version slated for Christmas),
Medieval Ash from ARMY OF DARKNESS, Jigsaw Killer and Puppet from SAW
and a fourth figure to be revealed in the future.
