Altered Carbon cancelled at Netflix after 2 seasons

After some in-depth evaluations, Netflix has canceled its original sci-fi series ALTERED CARBON after two seasons.

According to Deadline, the decision to cancel the show is not COVID-related but comes as a cost of the streamer's standard viewership vs. cost renewal review process. The second season of ALTERED CARBON starred Marvel's Anthony Mackie as Takeshi Kovacs, the lone surviving soldier of a group of elite interstellar warriors, continuing his centuries-old quest to find his lost love Quellcrist Falconer (Renée Elise Goldsberry).

ALTERED CARBON was created for Netflix by Laeta Kalogridis based on the 2002 novel of the same title by English author Richard K. Morgan. All told, the series lasted for two seasons and one animated movie, titled ALTERED CARBON: RESLEEVED. Mackie had taken over the role of Takeshi Kovacs from Joel Kinnaman, who starred as the native of Harlan's World and a former member of the Colonial Tactical Assault Corps in Season 1.

While the show did garner a dedicated fanbase, it would appear as if the numbers just aren't there to keep ALTERED CARBON on the air.
