After hosting two scandalous seasons of true-crime satire, Netflix has announced that they've closed the book on any additional seasons of AMERICAN VANDAL, the mockumentary comedy series from creators Dan Perrault and Tony Yacenda. However, all is not lost for those of you who delight in a hard-boiled deconstruction of dick-happy graffiti artists as well as the notorious case of "The Turd Burglar", for its been said that CBS TV Studios might be interested in picking up the Funny or Die property.
“American Vandal will not return for a third season,” Netflix said in a statement. “We’re very grateful to the creators, writers, cast and crew for bringing their innovative comedy to Netflix, and to the fans and critics who embraced its unique and unconventional humor.”
In the first season of AMERICAN VANDAL, an investigation into who spray-painted phalluses on the cars of private school faculty members is carried out, while the second installment followed co-creators/documentarians Peter Maldonado and Sam Ecklund as they uncover the truth behind a series of poop-related pranks at a high-end Catholic school. The sophomore season of the crime comedy series starred Tyler Alvarez, Griffin Gluck, Travis Tope, Taylor Dearden, Melvin Gregg and DeRon Horton.
Should CBS TV Studios decide to scoop up the project, there's no telling what lengths the show's creators will go to in their effort to introduce a new low-brow scenario that will have audience members pissing their pants with laughter.
