Netflix to serve up a second season of Green Eggs and Ham

Do you hear that? It's the sound of Netflix ringing a dinner bell for more GREEN EGGS AND HAM.

It's been announced that the popular streaming network has ordered another round of the critically acclaimed animated series, which is set to be titled GREEN EGGS AND HAM: THE SECOND SERVING. When the hand-drawn 2D animation returns, the new season will consist of ten half-hour episodes, as produced by Warner Bros. Animation.

For The Second Serving, Sam and Guy’s adventures continue in a new season that takes them around the globe and outside their comfort zones as they get caught between two sides of a delicious conflict.

The series was created for Netflix by Jared Stern, with Ellen DeGeneres, Jared Stern, Sam Register, Mike Karz, David Dobkin and Jeff Kleeman serving as ingredients for the show's executive production. Meanwhile, Helen Kalafatic produces.

First published in 1960, Green Eggs and Ham was a staple of my kindergarten storytime. The story follows an unnamed protagonist who's stalked by a nattering Sam-I-Am whose only desire is that the subject of his harassment try green eggs and ham.

To be fair, who in their right mind would consume green eggs and ham without knowing if the color of the food was created by food coloring as opposed to spoilage? Honestly, if some loud-mouthed nobody shadowed my every step in an attempt to get me to eat green eggs and ham, I'd tell them to eat the dish themselves, secretly hoping that they'd choke on the mysterious meal. I've got enough stomach issues as it is, and I don't think that wolfing down green eggs and ham, as served up by some stranger, is going to cause me anything but intestinal distress. What? You think I'm being dramatic? You eat them, then, and see if you're not putting on a display of toilet fireworks some hours later. Yeah, not so keen on eating them now, are you? I thought so.

The first season of GREEN EGGS AND HAM is now streaming on Netflix, with a second season to follow some time down the line.
