New 12 Strong trailer finds Hemsworth charging into battle

Seeing soldiers gallantly riding into battle is normally reserved for stuff like LORD OF THE RINGS, GAME OF THRONES and BRAVEHEART, but you don’t often see scenes like that paired with machine guns and ballistic missiles. You’d think the horses would get spooked by all the noises. But that’s exactly how the brave men depicted in 12 STRONG had to battle against the Taliban when they were dropped into Afghanistan. Such an interesting dynamic will make for unique battle sequences, and you can get a taste of the horseback action with Chris Hemsworth, Michael Pena, Trevante Rhodes and Michael Shannon in the brand new trailer above!

Here is the plot synopsis:

12 STRONG is set in the harrowing days following 9/11 when a U.S. Special Forces team, led by their new Captain, Mitch Nelson (Hemsworth), is chosen to be the first U.S. troops sent into Afghanistan for an extremely dangerous mission.  There, in the rugged mountains, they must convince Northern Alliance General Dostum (Navid Negahban) to join forces with them to fight their common adversary: the Taliban and their Al Qaeda allies.  In addition to overcoming mutual distrust and a vast cultural divide, the Americans—accustomed to state-of-the-art warfare—must adopt the rudimentary tactics of the Afghan horse soldiers.  But despite their uneasy bond, the new allies face overwhelming odds: outnumbered and outgunned by a ruthless enemy that does not take prisoners.

The film is shaping up to be a suitably epic war flick, fit with an exciting, true story that really must be seen to be believed. When visiting the set for the film I was amazed by how director Nicolai Fuglsig was utilizing practical effects and action, and not being afraid to shy away from throwing horses, soldiers and pyrotechnics all into the same shot. It was truly something to behold, and the experience will probably be no less extraordinary on the big screen.

12 STRONG hits theaters January 19, 2018, and also be sure to check our set visit here!
