New Blade Runner 2049 trailer tells us replicants are the future

A new trailer for the upcoming sequel to Ridley Scott's 1982 sci-fi noir classic BLADE RUNNER has arrived online, giving us the most revealing look yet at what director Denis Villeneuve has in store for audiences when BLADE RUNNER 2049 reaches theatres on October 6th.

Not being the biggest fan of the original BLADE RUNNER, I've kind of been keeping 2049 at arm's length while watching it come together, having no strong feelings about it one way or the other beyond liking the cinematographer and some of the cast members. By showing a glimpse of more scenes and giving a better idea of what's going on in the story, this latest trailer has gotten me more intrigued than I have been up to this point.

I have to say, though, that the absolute best thing about it is the awesome synth music. I'm not familiar enough with BLADE RUNNER to know if that's just music Vangelis composed for the original film or if it's a variation on his theme. Either way, it's a wonderful sound. Jóhann Jóhannsson is providing the score for 2049.

Starring Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Ana de Armas, Jared Leto, Robin Wright, Mackenzie Davis, Dave Bautista, David Dastmalchian, Lennie James, Sylvia Hoeks, Carla Juri, Hiam Abbass, Barkhad Abdi, and Edward James Olmos, BLADE RUNNER 2049 has the following synopsis:

Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K, unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard, a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.

The screenplay was written by BLADE RUNNER co-writer Hampton Fancher and ALIEN: COVENANT's Michael Green, working from a story Fancher crafted with Scott.

Check out the trailer below and realize that replicants are the future.
