New Dark Phoenix poster drops ahead of new trailer tomorrow

In case you all forgot, a new X-Men movie is indeed on the way and set for this summer after being shifted around on the calendar a few times. But the arrival of DARK PHOENIX is nigh, and to remind you just how much devastation could be store for the team of mutants a new poster has been unveiled showing the dual nature of Jean Grey, who is being torn between her normal self and the dark powers that rest within her. So, either she will save us all or burn the world to ash, so best keep a few paces back regardless.

With Disney buying studio 20th Century Fox things have been up in the air when it comes to the future of the X-Men franchise, with people wondering if it would at all affect the release of this new movie. That's not the case, obviously, and after several release shifts (November 2018 to February 2019, and from there to June 2019) we will get what will be the final X-Men movie of the Fox era. The new trailer for it couldn't come too soon, as that last one (below) wasn't all that great, and surely fans are wishing this series of outings starting with X-MEN: FIRST CLASS in 2011 goes out with a bang.

Here's the synopsis:

In DARK PHOENIX, the X-MEN face their most formidable and powerful foe: one of their own, Jean Grey. During a rescue mission in space, Jean is nearly killed when she is hit by a mysterious cosmic force. Once she returns home, this force not only makes her infinitely more powerful, but far more unstable. Wrestling with this entity inside her, Jean unleashes her powers in ways she can neither comprehend nor contain. With Jean spiraling out of control, and hurting the ones she loves most, she begins to unravel the very fabric that holds the X-Men together. Now, with this family falling apart, they must find a way to unite — not only to save Jean’s soul, but to save our very planet from aliens who wish to weaponize this force and rule the galaxy.

DARK PHOENIX is in theaters June 7.
