New genre parody novel: How the West Went to Hell!

It seems we’re in the middle of a craze folks. I’m not talking about 3D flicks or remakes, although those are both true as well. I’m talking about genre parody novels! These parody books keep flying at us and somehow keep finding huge success. I’m talking novels like PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES, ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER and SENSE AND SENSIBILITY AND SEA-MONSTERS, among others.

So what’s our latest tale of a classic world turned genre adventure? HOW THE WEST WENT TO HELL! Cowboys versus demons? Sounds like we’ve seen it before but nothings coming to mind. Hell I’m down for reading about some cowboys dealing with hell! But let’s stop assuming and get right to the official synopsis:

A bookish editor travels to Reaper’s Valley, a small town set in the Wild West, to finish the macabre manuscript of a recently-deceased novelist. He arrives by stagecoach, where he is introduced to a classic bevy of characters who will join in the fight against the yellow-eyed demon bodysnatchers overtaking Reaper’s Valley.

The news over at Dread Central has Pill Hill Press behind HOW THE WEST WENT TO HELL, which comes from author Eric S. Brown and promises “a gun-toting, six-gun blazing tip of the hat to both the horror and Western genres.” You can actually check out a preview of the novel right now over at Pill Hill Press, just click right over HERE to check that out!

HOW THE WEST WENT TO HELL is slated to hit bookstores this month. How long before a movie deal is in the works? I give it a week.
