Rob Zombie begins shooting the HALLOWEEN sequel this February 23rd and has replaced his previous director of photography, Phil Parmet, with Brandon Trost. Of course, Trost (top right) is no stranger to our genre, having worked as an FX assistant on MORTAL KOMBAT: ANNIHILATION and SCREAM 2. His other director of photography gigs include Jake Kennedy’s DAYS OF DARKNESS and the upcoming CRANK 2: HIGH VOLTAGE.
Okay, hiring a new D.O.P. is fairly interesting, I guess, but here’s the kicker: Mr. Zombie has stated that this new sequel is going to be fairly different from the 2007 re-imagining. Said difference will be similar to how his sequel THE DEVIL’S REJECTS was different from HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES. Hence, it makes sense that a new D.O.P. would be needed to help establish a different view for H2. I’m definitely interested in seeing exactly how different it’ll be. So there you have it. Much more on Zombie and Meyers as it rolls out!
