The glut of apocalyptic films coming out this year needed something: a comedic take. SEEKING A FRIEND FOR THE END OF THE WORLD appears poised to fill that need and do a good job of it.

Plot: Set in a too-near future, Seeking a Friend for the End of the World explores what people will do when humanity’s last days are at hand. Can one man find his greatest love at the worst possible time? As the respective journeys of Dodge (Steve Carell) and Penny (Keira Knightley) converge, the two spark to each other and their outlooks – if not the world’s – brighten.

MTV has posted a gallery of images from the film. Here is a selection.

SEEKING A FRIEND FOR THE END OF THE WORLD features an excellent cast of actors including Adam Brody, William Petersen, Rob Corddry, Derek Luke, Patton Oswalt, Connie Britton, Gillian Jacobs, and TJ Miller. It opens in theaters June 22nd.
