20th Century Fox has released an exclusive IMAX trailer for AD ASTRA, which contains new footage of the film that is set to blast off in theaters on September 20th. Directed by James Gray (THE LOST CITY OF Z, WE OWN THE NIGHT) and starring Brad Pitt, AD ASTRA follows an astronaut as he travels to the outer edges of the solar system to find his missing father. The mission unravels a mystery that threatens the survival of our planet.
As a way of setting AD ASTRA apart from other space exploration epics, director James Gray worked with DP Hoyte van Hoytema to establish a look for the movie based on Kodak stock images from the Apollo 11 through 17 lunar missions.
Starring alongside Brad Pitt for Gray's picturesque journey into the stars and beyond are Tommy Lee Jones, Ruth Negga, Liv Tyler, and Donald Sutherland. In addition to helming the film, Gray also co-wrote the script with Ethan Gross. Pitt is also producing alongside the aid of Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, James Gray, Anthony Katagas, Rodrigo Teixeira, Arnon Milchan.
In addition to the new trailer, Fox also dropped launched a new poster for this film, which is exclusive to IMAX theaters:
