We finally have a bit of a grip on what Christopher Nolan’s INCEPTION is all about (although truth be told, I’m going to avoid any more info), and now we’re getting some more images to accompany that newfound knowledge. Via the LA Times, which is doing an extensive sneak-peek of the film, we have four new pics showing us the skewed dream world, in front of and behind the camera.
There’s a better look at Ken Watanabe as the film’s villain, who seems to be giving Lukas Haas the business. Below you can see Joseph Gordon-Levitt (as one of Leonardo DiCaprio’s associates) about to go to war in a f*cked up hallway; beneath that you have a couple of behind-the-scenes shots. Is it me, or does DiCaprio look a bit like Nolan in this flick?
In this “existential heist film”, DiCaprio stars as a specialist in the new branch of corporate espionage — he’s a dream thief who plucks secrets from the minds of tycoons after pumping them full of drugs and hooking them up to a mysterious contraption.
Nolan spits out this intriguing quote in the article: “I always find myself gravitating to the analogy of a maze… Think of film noir and if you picture the story as a maze, you don’t want to be hanging above the maze watching the characters make the wrong choices because it’s frustrating. You actually want to be in the maze with them, making the turns at their side, that keeps it more exciting…I quite like to be in that maze.”
