New international trailer for 3 Days To Kill starring Kevin Costner

Kevin Costner is jumping into theaters in 2014, like it or not. After a solid turn as Jonathan Kent in last year's MAN OF STEEL and an underplayed role in JACK RYAN: SHADOW RECRUIT, Costner is taking center stage in director McG's 3 DAYS TO KILL, the latest European-set, high-concept actioner from writer Luc Besson. We've already seen the domestic trailer for the film and today we have a new international trailer that offers a little more exposition on Costner's plight in the film. There's a lot of tongue-in-cheek silliness here, but then there's also Costner kicking ass and taking names, so the two kind of balance out.

Take a look:

Here's the synopsis:

In this heart-pounding action-thriller, Kevin Costner is a dangerous international spy who is determined to give up his high-stakes life to finally build a closer relationship with his estranged wife and daughter, whom he’s previously kept at arm’s length to keep out of danger. But first, he must complete one last mission—even if it means juggling the two toughest assignments yet: hunting down the world’s most ruthless terrorist and looking after his teenage daughter for the first time in ten years, while his wife is out of town.

The film co-stars Amber Heard, Connie Nielsen, and Hailee Steinfeld, which puts a lot of women in Costner's corner, but still with plenty of bad guys in suits to dispense. I've become a broken record in expressing my satisfaction with seeing Costner back on the big screen, so just add another scratch for this one. Besson's Euro-action pics have kind of become their own genre and gotten sillier with each new entry, but they tend to bring out some really cool stars and put them into some rip-roaring action scenes, so this ultimately feels like a nice fit for Mr. Costner. I've got 90 minutes to kill.

3 DAYS TO KILL takes aim at theaters on February 21, 2014.
