Michael Brandt and Derek Haas to adapt the upcoming novel THE THIRTEENTH HOUR by Richard Doetsch. I say upcoming because the novel hasn’t even been released yet… and they’re already set up to bring it to the big screen!
It seems a bit like jumping the gun to me, but… whatever. Better than hiring a couple of writers to bust out another crappy remake, right? So what’s HOUR all about?
The story follows a man accused of murdering his wife who gets to go back in time–in one-hour increments over 12 hours–with the chance to stop his wife’s killer.
Ah, I see. Time travel. A murder mystery. It’s like THE FUGITIVE meets BACK TO THE FUTURE or something like that. But as Haas puts it, the book is a fast-paced thriller with a supernatural twist and characters who really pop.
Well hell, you put it that way and I’m sold! Considering that Haas and Brandt are the writing team who brought us the kick-ass WANTED, I’d say I’m more than a little excited to see what they bring to the table here. Then again, they’re also the team writing the BEVERLY HILLS COP remake for Brett Ratner.
