New Line Catches Meg

Hee, hee. Forget SPRING BREAK SHARK ATTACK mofo’s! A real killer shark movie is finally gearing up to happen. New Line Cinema has picked up the rights to Steve Alten’s prehistoric shark horror adventure tale MEG. The project has been languishing for years at Walt Disney Pictures’ Hollywood Pictures label. Now it looks like it’s on the fast track, and Jan DeBont will be steering the great beast.

The story goes a little sumtin’ like this: [A]n a 80-foot-long prehistoric shark — scientifically known as Carcharodon megalodon and believed by some to be an ancestor of the great white shark — terrorizes the California coast. Two men from opposite points of view are forced to come together to neutralize the threat.

Now if you’re a shark geek like me, you’ve long been a fan of this amazingly huge predator, but if not, you can click here to get more specs on the bastard. Makes JAWS look like a punk. Don’t believe me, well then check out the picture of the shark jaw below.
