Just the other day My Man Eric reviewed the Canadian horror flick PONTYPOOL, which either got you excited to check the flick out, or deterred your enthusiasm for it. Prompted by the recent review (or maybe totally unrelated), IFC Films just released a new US theatrical poster for the film, and in a nutshell, this thing is… boring!
I feel like we’ve seen cooler stuff come out of the PONTYPOOL camp for this thing to be the final poster. This thing is lame, and the review they pulled just compares it to being like David Cronenberg, which is a compliment for sure, but somewhat odd to slap on the film’s official poster. Maybe for the DVD box, but the poster? Doesn’t seem right…
PONTYPOOL is a psychological thriller in which a deadly virus infects a small Ontario town. What more could you ask for? Oh yeah, how about a poster that doesn’t suck so hard. Like the one below. Why couldn’t they just stick with that? Not only is the design and overall look way better, but the quote they pulled seems to be more effective. Four stars? I’m so there!
