First poster for Steven Spielberg’s Bridge of Spies; trailer debuts tomorrow

It has been three years since Steven Spielberg directed LINCOLN. In that time, we have seen projects like ROBOPOCALYPSE and AMERICAN SNIPER come and go. With the lack of a Spielberg movie, theaters have felt a little empty. Now, the wait is finally over as the first poster for BRIDGE OF SPIES has debuted with the trailer set to premiere tomorrow.

Working with Tom Hanks for the fourth time and based on a screenplay by Matt Charman and Ethan Coen & Joel Coen, BRIDGE OF SPIES sounds like one hell of a movie.

A dramatic thriller set against the backdrop of a series of historic events, DreamWorks Pictures/Fox 2000 Pictures’ “Bridge of Spies” tells the story of James Donovan, a Brooklyn lawyer who finds himself thrust into the center of the Cold War when the CIA sends him on the near-impossible task to negotiate the release of a captured American U-2 pilot.

Spielberg has always directed a wide range of genres. His next film, THE BFG, is going to be a big, family friendly flick. BRIDGE OF SPIES, despite a fairly generic title and poster, could be very good. It all hinges on seeing that trailer tomorrow. This could be his next SAVING PRIVATE RYAN or SCHINDLER’S LIST or it could be another let down like AMISTAD. Cross your fingers and hope the talent on and off screen for this project deliver the goods.

BRIDGE OF SPIES hits theaters on October 16th.
