New Savage pics

A couple of weeks ago we gave you the heads up about MTV’s ode to cannibalistic hillbilly horror in web series form known as SAVAGE COUNTRY (relive that shit HERE), and now thanks to Fangoria, there’s a brand new pic to check out from the project!

Beginning in February, you’ll be able to check out the 8 part series in 10 minute installments via the web, courtesy of MTV. Director David Harris had a chance to sit down with Fango and dish the details about the project, and what we can expect. Here’s a taste of what he had to say concerning those who may not be on board with it’s homage to THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE: I know the CHAINSAW reference raises hackles with fans, but it’s not a remake; I’m not interested in that. But if you make a backwoods horror movie, you’re either taking inspiration from CHAINSAW, totally missing out or lying. As a director, it’s a challenge to show the killers’ faces, let them talk and give them a family dynamic and a history. We’ve got the Hardell family tree charted back for centuries to try and get that texture.

I for one can’t knock a film for feeding off the style, look, or feel from TCM, mostly because so many movies have done it already–what’s one more? That’s like saying that all slasher movies are rip-offs of HALLOWEEN, and while that might be true, it doesn’t mean I don’t like slasher movies.

Anyway, Harris provided a few new pics from SAVAGE COUNTRY which you can see here, or head on over THIS WAY to check them out in their entirety, as well as the full interview with Harris.

SAVAGE COUNTRY premiers online this February.
