New Skyscraper trailer finds Dwayne Johnson taking action to the next level

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Dwayne Johnson’s upcoming DIE HARD-esque action flick SKYSCRAPER will find Johnson fighting bad guys and ascending a fiery building to save his family. We can all watch the superstar make death-defying leaps in only a week and a half, and now Universal has put out a new trailer for the movie to take your excitement to the next level. The footage showcases a harrowing stunt involving Johnson scaling the tallest building in the world, which even he admits is a dumb idea. Still, he looks born to do it.

FBI Hostage Rescue Team leader and U.S. war veteran Will Sawyer, who now assesses security for skyscrapers. On assignment in China he finds the tallest, safest building in the world suddenly ablaze, and he’s been framed for it. A wanted man on the run, Will must find those responsible, clear his name and somehow rescue his family who is trapped inside the building…above the fire line.

You can't make a movie like this without capitalizing on some people's fear of heights just a little bit, and certainly, those people will be gripping their chairs with sweaty palms watching this scene. If there's any reason to see the movie in IMAX it's to see scenes like this and feel the sense of scale on display. The scene reminds me of when Tom Cruise ran across that building in MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – GHOST PROTOCOL, only this one has more…flames.

SKYSCRAPER arrives July 13.
