New Solo: A Star Wars Story featurette explores the origin of Han Solo

With SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY we will witness the origins of one of the galaxy’s most beloved characters – Han Solo – and how he met characters like Chewbacca and Lando Calrissian. In the movie, we will see that Solo (Alden Ehrenreich) has always been a reckless, thrill-seeking rogue, but there’s so much more to learn about him as we discover just what it was that made him the Han Solo we know and love. In a new featurette for the movie this aspect of the film is discussed, as several of the movie’s stars, including Ehrenreich, Donald Glover and Emilia Clarke, and its director, Ron Howard, talk about the leading hero.

As Howard says at the start, this will expose us to a side of the galaxy we’ve never seen before. Here, the Empire is at peak control and we see how some areas of the galaxy are suffering. In the middle of this is a cocky young man desperate to prove himself, leading him in a grand ole’ adventure where he encounters some new and old faces.

There’s a ton of new footage here, including some intense battle sequences. The movie certainly looks different than any of the other movies and has a grittier feel to it than even the other spin-off movie, ROGUE ONE. If the filmmakers' goal was to show a totally different side of this universe than they’ve certainly succeeded. At the very least they’ve shown us a darker side of the universe. Does the sun never come out where this movie takes place?

SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY arrives May 25.
