New teaser for Seth MacFarlane’s series Blunt Talk starring Patrick Stewart

Fans of Seth MacFarlane series and films know that there is always the chance Patrick Stewart could appear. I remember the first time I heard the man recognized as Jean-Luc Picard and Professor Charles Xavier guest star on FAMILY GUY followed by a regular role on AMERICAN DAD. Hearing a childhood idol spouting those lines was surprising and totally hilarious. Naturally, when Stewart narrated MacFarlane’s feature directorial debut TED it was yet another classic.

So, when news came down last year that MacFarlane would produce a live action series starring Stewart, everyone was pretty excited. Seeing Stewart return to television, especially in a series bound to be full of profanity and more, sounded too good to be true. With the show created and run by BORED TO DEATH’s Jonathan Ames, there is no doubt this show is going to be worth watching.

Patrick Stewart (“X-Men” franchise, Ted) stars as Walter Blunt, a British import intent on conquering the world of American cable news. Through the platform of his nightly interview show, Blunt is on a mission to impart his wisdom and guidance on how Americans should live, think and behave. Besieged by network bosses, a dysfunctional news staff, numerous ex-wives and children of all ages, Blunt’s only support is the alcoholic manservant he transplanted from the U.K. to join him in Los Angeles. The series follows the fallout from Blunt’s well-intentioned, but mostly misguided decision-making, both on and off the air.

Starz has revealed the first teaser for BLUNT TALK which only uses Stewart’s profile and the allusion to cocaine to sell us on this being a great show. Clocking in at less than thirty seconds, I can say it does the job and builds more anticipation for the series which already sounds like it will be funnier than most network sitcoms.

BLUNT TALK has no specific premiere date, yet, but expect to see in on Starz this summer.
