There haven’t been many updates on the new 3D TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE movie that Twisted Pictures is prepping for Lionsgate, and some might consider that a good thing. However, word is coming in that the project is still alive and kicking.
This should be considered just a rumor for now: Bloody Disgusting is reporting that Lionsgate is “in talks” with TAKERS helmer John Luessenhop for the TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE film, which is evidently going to be shot in 3D. While TAKERS isn’t exactly what you’d consider a fitting prelude to a horror film, it did make $69 million worldwide and over $17 million on DVD, so it was a very profitable flick. (Although no expense was spent on the hilariously awful poster.) Perhaps Lionsgate is hoping some of that rubs off if they go through with Luessenhop as director.
The script for the new CHAINSAW flick has been worked on by Debra Sullivan, Adam Marcus and Stephen Susco. We’ll let you know when we hear more.
