New trailer for Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby is all about the mysterious Jay Gatsby. Plus a new poster

I’ve said before that I’m not that high on THE GREAT GATSBY but this new trailer is my favorite so far for the film. The trailer highlights Leonardo DiCaprio‘s Jay Gatsby and hints at some of the character’s secret past. If you’ve read the book you know the film isn’t just extravagant parties and polo: things get dark and I’m glad they are more of it is shown in this trailer. One thing though: the shot of DiCaprio screaming with hand raised as a fist is just waiting to become an animated GIF or meme.

The film looks visually stunning but I really hope this isn’t a case of style over substance. There’s also a new poster for THE GREAT GATSBY and while it’s nothing too original or fantastic it is a nice view of the main cast looking great in their Sunday best. The bespectacled face in the background of the poster that just shows the person’s eyes is a nice touch and I’m sure it’s suppose to be a homage to the classic cover for the novel.

Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Carey Mulligan, Joel Edgerton, Isla Fisher and Jason Clarke, you can check out THE GREAT GATSBY when it hits theaters on May 10th, 2013.
