I’ll admit that after THE FINAL DESTINATION, I was through with this franchise. That movie is so awful in every possible way; not even the grisly death sequences make it bearable. (They aren’t particularly good, either.) But the trailer for FINAL DESTINATION 5 has made me somewhat hopeful that this new installment will be a good time. The effects are surprisingly impressive, and the set-pieces look fun – the gymnasium sequence in particular should be a creepy hoot.
In this fifth installment, Death is just as omnipresent as ever, and is unleashed after one man’s premonition saves a group of coworkers from a terrifying suspension bridge collapse. But this group of unsuspecting souls was never supposed to survive, and, in a terrifying race against time, the ill-fated group frantically tries to discover a way to escape Death’s sinister agenda.
The flick stars Nicholas D’Agosto, Emma Bell, Miles Fisher, Arlen Escarpeta, David Koechner, Ellen Wroe, Jacqueline MacInnes Wood, Courtney B. Vance and Tony Todd. It hits theaters on AUGUST 12th.
