Laika Studio’s follow-up to its underappreciated Neil Gaiman adaptation CORALINE is PARANORMAN, which might be a little more palatable for mainstream audiences while still possessing the former’s twisted point of view (as far as family films go). The flick just got its second trailer, way ahead of its late-summer release next year, but so what? We’ll take it because it appears to be pretty cool.
The new preview is a bit different from the initial one received, which itself was certainly unique. Trailer #2 takes a more “wacky comedy” approach, highlighting slapstick and humorous visuals. PARANORMAN could be a serious delight; we’ll find out when it hits theaters on AUGUST 17, 2012.
Norman Babcock is an outcast in his small New England town. When a horde of zombies is unleashed on the populace, Norman learns he must use his paranormal powers to make things right again. That’s not an easy task when you’re only eleven. And you’ve just been grounded.
The voice cast includes Kodi Smit-McPhee, Casey Affleck, Anna Kendrick, John Goodman, Leslie Mann, Jeff Garlin, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Elaine Strich, Tempestt Bledsoe, Bernard Hill and Alex Borstein.
