Get your hands off my controller, you damn dirty ape!

Today, mo-cap magic man Andy Serkis and his The Imaginarium Studios revealed a new cinematic adventure game that is set between Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and War for the Planet of the Apes films called PLANET OF THE APES: LAST FRONTIER. The game is set to be released on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC this fall.

You can check out the trailer for the game below:

In addition to being a premiere studio who has helped to revolutionize the motion capture industry, Imaginarium Studios has partnered with Foxnext Games to bring players and fans of the Apes franchise a narrative adventure game of conquest, betrayal and survival with multiple endings. When the fates of a tribe of apes and a band of human survivors intertwine, two worlds collide as their precarious existence hangs in the balance. Set between DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES and WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES films, PLANET OF THE APES: LAST FRONTIER plunges the player into a rich, cinematic experience where every decision impacts the fragile balance between peace and war.

For the game, players will be given the opportunity to play both sides of the growing conflict, gaining a deep understanding of the motivations, hopes and fears of humans and apes alike. The destinies of each species rests entirely on the player as the game pushes towards a tense, fragile peace, or a final bloody battle.

When talking about the game, Andy Serkis recently said, “We are committed to exploring and expanding next-generation storytelling, and PLANET OF THE APES: LAST FRONTIER represents an exciting marriage of technology and creativity, all set in a rich universe of which I am very proud” By combining The Imaginarium’s world-renowned expertise in performance capture and story-telling, the title is expected to deliver unprecedented levels of immersion and empathy from both its characters and players.

I've got to say, the trailer has this game looking like it could be rather compelling, and when has Andy Serkis and his people ever steered us wrong, right? The Imaginarium Studios certainly has the technological knowhow to bring apes to life on the big screen, and I have no doubt that the talent team will be able to bring that magic to video games as well. It's also to note that the release of PLANET OF THE APES: LAST FRONTIER is quite timely, as the latest film in the action sci-fi series, WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES, has already earned a total of $332.1 million bananas since its July 14th debut.

PLANET OF THE APES: LAST FRONTIER is planning a fall release on Playstation 4, Xbox, and PC.
